New Screening Mammography Guidelines for BC
Vancouver. BC - The BC Cancer Agency announces revised screening policy for breast cancer which emphasizes women making an informed choice. Women in their 40's are encouraged to speak to their doctor in order to understand the limitations of mammography, namely the decreased sensitivity of mammography for this age group, due to breast density which is more common for women in their 40's. High breast density can often lead to false positives.
Screening for women 50-74 remains the same and is available every two years.
